Introduction
The Conservation Laboratory within the University of
Connecticut Libraries is responsible for the long-term preservation of the library's
collections, as well as specific aspects of collection care. This includes conservation
treatment and preventive conservation activities. Although capable of treating special and
rare materials, the Lab primarily focus on care of the general research collection, which
includes books, series, printed items, and maps.
The Conservation Lab is the only one in the University
Libraries System. Not only it provides variety of services for collection care,
protection, and repair for the Libraries on the Storrs main campus, but also offers
same services and technical support to the libraries on all regional campuses as
well.
